Each year, two selected overseas partner universities are invited to participate in the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship Programme („Baden-Württemberg-Stipendium“). Each university selects and nominates one scholarship holder.

Programme objectives

The BW Scholarship is funded by the German Baden-Württemberg Foundation. The aim of the programme is to promote the international exchange of highly qualified German and foreign students. It also aims to increase participants‘ understanding and tolerance of other cultures, improve their language skills and broaden their social and academic horizons. An important aim of the programme is to promote links between universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg and their valued foreign partners, and to develop and strengthen these links on a reciprocal basis.

Funding

  • Financial support during the study stay
  • Support by an extensive international network

At the end of the scholarship period, students may extend their stay, but will be responsible for funding.

Prerequisites

  • Enrolment at ABK Stuttgart for the entire duration of the scholarship
  • Cannot be combined with other scholarships (exceptions may be made for travel grants, etc.)
  • Students must be nominated by their home universities to be eligible for the programme
  • must demonstrate a high level of ability in their chosen field of study
  • Students are expected to use their time to continue their studies in a new environment by participating in courses or projects (earning ECTS credits) and to explore the different opportunities available at the ABK Stuttgart.

Application

The exchange coordinator at your home institution must confirm your nomination to the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design by e-mail. Applications from students who are not nominated will not be processed.

All documents, artworks, certificates, etc. should be sent in digital format.

Selection process

Complete applications will be forwarded to the selection committee for evaluation. ABK Stuttgart can reject or accept an applicant according to our admission regulations. Admission is based on the application documents submitted, including the artistic quality of the portfolio submitted by the applicant and also the number of study places available.

The Baden Württemberg Foundation is responsible for the final selection of applicants for the BW-Scholarship.

You will be notified as soon as a decision regarding your application has been made.

Please note that due to the large number of applications we receive, we are unable to advise on the rejection of an application.
