Incoming Students

The Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design was founded in 1761 and is a state-recognised institution with university status. The Academy has a long tradition of academic excellence in the fields of fine arts, architecture, design, conservation and art history.
ABK Stuttgart offers an international environment of innovation and learning, encompassing all disciplines of art and design. Students are enrolled on B.A., M.A. and German Diplom degree courses. It maintains an independent mode of study, so students are required to work self-motivated and disciplined to achieve their artistic goals.

The International Office represents the Academy in its dealings with funding bodies and scientific organisations, in international recruitment and marketing activities, and is also involved in international accreditation procedures and practices.

As part of its internationalisation efforts, ABK Stuttgart successfully completed the Internationalisation of Universities audit of the German Rectors‘ Conference (HRK) in 2016.
